Who We Are

We are a team in every aspect of the definition. We have come together with one common goal, to help the neurologic patient that cannot come to us. With over ten years working together in a well- established Neurology service, there is no better group of people to help your patients with neurologic disease.

Jose Diaz, DVM, ACVIM-Neurology

Dr. Diaz has been practicing Neurology for the last 14 years, serving primarily the city of Calgary and surrounding communities. He graduated veterinary school from the Universidad de la Salle in Bogota, Colombia, and moved to Canada shortly after. From there he pursued a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. He then went on to begin a neurology residency there, and completed the residency at Canada West Veterinary Specialists in Vancouver. Throughout his career, Dr. Diaz has developed a special interest in spinal cord surgery, management of meningoencephalitis and neuromuscular disorders, among many other areas. He is excited to expand his reach and use his expertise to help more patients in need via Remote NeuroVet.

Outside of the veterinary industry, Dr. Diaz is a loving husband and father of three, and shares his home with four dogs, three guinea pigs and lots of plants! He enjoys spending time in nature and is an avid wildlife photographer.

Melissa was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Her love of animals began at a very early age. She worked as a TA starting in grade 12. She then attended Olds College and received her Animal Health Technology Diploma in 2007. Her career started in general practice. She then began picking up the occasional ER shift and realized her passion for Neurology. She has been a Neurology, RVT since 2010. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, along with their house full of animals. Her three dogs, Jack, Henry and Kirby, as well as the two cats, Beemer and Googs. Surprisingly, only two of the animals have neurologic diseases!

Melissa’s areas of special interest are MRI as well as managing the non-infectious meningoencephalitis patient.

Melissa Mocha, RVT

Erin Boettger, RVT

Erin Boettger was born in Ponoka, Alberta but grew up in Calgary. A small-town girl at heart, she fostered a love for animals throughout her life, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Zoology before pursuing her RVT diploma at Olds College. After graduation she spent a year and a half in Emergency medicine, but quickly found her passion within the Neurology specialty. The combination of medicine, emergency, and surgery means that every day is different; there is truly never a dull moment! Erin’s areas of special interest are MRI imaging and anesthesia for the Neurologic patient.

In her spare time Erin loves scuba diving, relaxing in nature and spending time with her fiancée and two lab mixes, Fletcher and Stella. She is also getting very excited to welcome her first (non-fur!) baby to the world in July 2023.
